It is well worth noting that the single most dramatic thing that Christ did to the faith was to smash the idea of a chosen people. He was the light to enlighten the gentiles, as so many of us have sung in one setting or another.

A closed mind does not behoove a Christian. Nor does a belief that a God who changed the faith so dramatically once might not do so again.

It is a wonder anyone who can imagine a unimaginably vast God can think there is a single faith system that can encompass all of God. That anyone would throw bricks at one for associating with those of another religion should probably re-read the New Testament.
