Its time to play Broaden Amy's Horizons.

I am now taking recommendations for songs to download (don't tell me to buy any CDs, I am a pauper), movies to watch and books to read. Triple word score for anyone who would like to actually loan me said movies/books. Don't tell me what you think I would like, tell me what you like that I should check out.

Sanx.

Which monkey are you?

You should download some Foetus.

What are you most expert in? most ignorant of? Are there any genres or artists that you just can't stand?

You know you can check CDs and movies out of your local library, or even from libraries of neighboring suburbs?

Everybody should see Wings of Desire, which just popped up over on [livejournal.com profile] febrile's journal. I also recommend Hitchcock's Rear window or Rope, Spike Lee's Do the right thing, Hair for its dancing (Twyla Tharp) and cinematography, and Hearts of Darkness for seeing how Apocalypse Now got made (only it's much shorter). I was also amazed by Europa, Europa, which I went to see with former film students.

I've seen Hair, Europa Europa and Rope. I've heard of the other ones, but never had a chance to see them.

The only problem with the library is not having a library card. And I heard that these days to get a Wheaton library card is nothing short of selling your first born. I guess its a photo ID and they need a fingerprint or something really psycho. My anti-Big Brother genes start to twitch when I hear stuff like that.

As my friend [livejournal.com profile] holyoutlaw might say, "Hah!" Sadly, I'm in the midst of looking up a ton of stuff and found this page, which says that you need two forms of ID to show that you have a current Wheaton address. What's that -- a state ID and a phone bill? Pshaw. No mention of fingerprints, honest.

Maybe we should have a viewing party for Wings of Desire, an amazing movie. I own a copy but my VCR and apartment need way too much help.
